Register .VN and international domain names

A domain name is the unique address of a website on the Internet, replacing complex IP (Internet Protocol) number strings. It works like a "home address" that guides visitors to your website. A standard domain has two parts: the label (such as "google") and the extension/TLD (such as ".com", ".vn", ".net").

A domain is made of character strings separated by dots: the website name, the second-level domain and the top-level domain (TLD).

At BKNS, international domains (.com, .net…) are activated automatically once the system confirms payment and valid registration details. Vietnamese (.vn) domains are activated after you complete document verification and VNNIC approves the registration.

No. You are essentially subscribing to the domain. You must pay a renewal fee every year to keep using it. If you do not renew on time, the domain is reclaimed and someone else may register it.

You can register a domain for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 10 years. To keep it running continuously, you must renew before expiry.

BKNS sends reminder emails starting 30 days before your domain expires.

Please keep track of your expiry date so you can renew in time and avoid losing the domain.

There are many popular domain types in Vietnam:

Country-code domains (ccTLD):

• .vn — the Vietnamese national domain, preferred by local businesses, organizations and individuals. BKNS is an official .VN registrar.
• .com.vn — commercial organizations in Vietnam.
• .net.vn — network service providers.
• .org.vn — non-profit organizations.
• .edu.vn — educational institutions.
• .gov.vn — government agencies.
• .id.vn — personal identity domain.

Generic domains (gTLD):

• .com — Commercial, a popular international domain.
• .net — Network.
• .org — Organization.
• .info — Information.

New gTLDs: .shop, .store (e-commerce); .online, .site, .website; .tech, .io (technology); .club, .community (communities).

Renewal fees follow the price list at the time of renewal (usually equal to or lower than the new-registration price for international domains, and equal to the VNNIC-regulated price for .vn domains). We always send a renewal reminder 30 days ahead so you do not lose your domain.

Absolutely. The domain is your asset. We help you unlock it and provide the EPP Code (Auth Code) when you ask to transfer it away.

A newly registered or newly transferred international domain must wait 60 days before it can be transferred out, under current ICANN rules.

A domain goes through these stages: Active (once purchased) → Expired (stops working) → Redemption (a period in which you can reclaim it) → Pending delete (unrecoverable) → Available (anyone can register it again).

After purchasing, visit whois.com (for international domains) or the VNNIC lookup page (for .vn domains). Enter your domain, and if the "Registrant" field shows your name or company, ownership is 100% complete.

Under the latest regulations, the procedure is now online (eKYC):

• Individuals: an image of your citizen ID card (both sides) or passport.
• Organizations: a domain registration declaration with a digital signature (Token) or the organization's seal; tax code; a letter of authorization if someone else files on your behalf.

Online approval is very fast.

If your target customers are mainly in Vietnam, a .VN domain feels familiar and trustworthy to Vietnamese customers and is a local SEO advantage. Conversely, .COM is a good fit if you want to go global or position an international brand.

Do not worry. You can add a prefix or suffix (for example get[name], [name]app) or switch to trending new extensions such as .net, .io, .co or .tech.

Absolutely. BKNS supports transferring domains in so you can manage them in one place.

For international domains: the transfer itself is free. You only pay a 1-year renewal fee, and the domain's term is extended by 1 year.
